Budget 2016 : Top 10 Technological announcements made by Finance Minister

The 2016-2017 budget was the most technology-heavy the country has ever seen. From technology platforms and data analytics to automation, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has bet on tech to help boost growth.

1. A unified agricultural marketing online platform for wholesale markets.
2. An online procurement system for food grain procurement.
3. An online portal to connect breeders and farmers to improve stock of dairy animals.
4. A new digital literacy mission scheme for rural India to cover 6 crore additional households in three years. Of 16.8 crore rural households, about 12 crore are not likely to have digitally literate persons.
5. An integrated land information management system for land records to be implemented from 1st April, 2016. Rs 150 crore has been allocated for this purpose.
6. A digital depositary for school leaving certificates, college degrees, academic awards and mark sheets.
7. Interlink state employment exchanges with the National Career Service Platform.
8. A financial data management centre to facilitate integrated data aggregation and analysis in the financial sector.
9. A technology platform to facilitate procurement of goods and services by various ministries and agencies of the government.
10. A data mining platform to nab tax evaders.
